So, my writing process changes constantly, or at least it has changed several times. Not on purpose mind you. I’ve mentioned before that I go through spurts of motivations/inspiration. This story has been the exception to that rule so far. My inspiration and motivation have not waned at all. However, what has happened, is life has gotten in the way.

My wife and I are, well, a bit odd I guess. I don’t find it odd personally. And neither does she. But for many people out there, it may very well seem odd. Despite all the years we’ve been together, and all the time we spend together, we still, absolutely love being together ALL THE TIME. (I mean, literally, all the time.) When she leaves for work, we will talk on the phone, starting the moment she pulls out of the driveway, until she arrives at work.

As a result of that, when she gets home, or when she has the day off from work, or works from home, etc… I don’t get much writing done. The office where I do my writing is in the bedroom, and there isn’t really a way for us both to comfortably stay in there together. So, when she’s home, I stop writing. There has been a lot of that lately, as things have shifted slightly at her job.

Also, there have been a few trips we’ve had/gotten to go on, or family things that needed to be dealt with, etc… The point being, I went a good 3-4 weeks without writing much. But The story was still there, begging to be written. I hadn’t lost motivation, just time.

That, is why my process had to change. So last week, I made the commitment to re-structure my days, in order to make sure I got back on track. I set up a schedule not only to get me writing again, but also to keep me on track with all the things I have to get done for the first book as I work toward publication. I have an editor, I am working on cover art, and of course, keeping the Website/social media going on a regular basis as well!

So now, I am writing again, a minimum of 10,000 words a week, plus editing. As well as blog posts. And all of the administrative things for book one.
