The Journey of Shoshana: Part 1

This journey started in late 2024. Those that know me, know that I tend to go through spurts of motivation. My wife likes to say I have a three-month attention span. I’ll get really into something (a new video game, a new hobby, etc) and I’ll through all I have into it, for about 3 months or so, and then I’ll start to fizzle out.

But late 2024, I started to get the itch to write again. I had done really good for about a solid year back in 2022-2023. Got a lot of writing done, and was feeling very confident. But then, we were forced to move. And the new place was smaller, and the place where I had been sitting and writing, was gone. I tried and tried, but couldn’t get into it. So for two years, no matter how hard I tried, writing just didn’t happen. We even moved again in between.

Then, last year, I started to feel it again. I began to get the ideas. Stories were swirling around my head, one after another. Still, I worried that I didn’t have the ability to get them from mind to paper. (OK, so It’s actually a computer, but you know what I mean.)

Then, as luck would have it, in February of 2025, I purchased a computer, and set up a home office for my wife. And it was like strapping a rocket to my back. Shoshana’s story had been running around, taking shape in my head for months, and now, I had a computer, a desk, and the privacy of my own bedroom in which I could sit down and begin to write it.

It took only two weeks for the first ten thousand words to flow right onto the pages. And from there, I just kept going.
